Instructions And Rules for 7 Bible Games In 1 Box

First Thing To Do

Combine the two decks of cards into four different groups:
  • 66 Book Cards
  • 10 Classification Cards
  • 28 Illustration Cards
  • 4 Reference Cards

It may be helpful to put a rubber band around the book cards and around the illustration cards when they are not being used.

Matching Game For Ages 2 And Up

Match the 28 colored illustrations cards to the illustrations on the game board. A story about each illustration can be given as the association is made. You may find it helpful to refer to the Playing Cards Explanation for the story line.
Matching Game For Ages 5 and Up

Use the 66 book cards to match to the corresponding books on the game board. Also use the 10 class cards to match to the classes on the game board. This is an excellent way to learn the books of the Bible. Also, use the 66 book cards to match to the corresponding books on the classification cards. This technique is very adaptable to traveling situations.
Matching Games For Youth And Adult

Draw a book card from the deck and see if you can associate it with the illustration(s) on the game board. An association can also be made by drawing an illustration card and associating it with books on the game board. These associations can also be made by matching book cards to illustration cards without using the game board. One way to check the validity of your association is by consulting the Scripture references in Question Book #1 where the Scripture references are sequenced to correspond with the illustrations.
Question And Answer Game Using Question Book #1

The object of this game is to score points by collecting books of the Bible. The person with the most points at the end of a game is the winner.

One person needs to be chosen to be the reader and time keeper. The other players decide who is to go first by flipping a coin. Shuffle the book cards and place in one stack. Shuffle the illustration cards and place in another stack. The first player draws an illustration card and places it face up on the corresponding illustration on the game board. The player then draws a book card but does not let the other players see the book card. The reader asks a question from Question Book #1 that relates to the illustration card drawn. The player has 30 seconds to give an answer. After the player answers, the reader gives the correct answer and Scripture reference. If the player answers correctly, he keeps the book card that he drew. If the answer is incorrect, the book card is returned to the bottom of the stack of book cards. The only player that knows what this card was is the player that drew that card. The next player then takes a turn.

When all of the illustration cards have been used, the reader then gathers them, reshuffles them, and play continues the same as before. When all of the book cards have been collected, the game is over and the score is totaled to determine the winner.

How to score points. Turn your collected cards face up so that all can see which books you collected. Count one point for each book collected. Count bonus points if you collected all the books in a given classification. For example, if you collected all four books (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) of the Gospels, you would add four bonus points to your score. The bonus points for each classification are the same as the number of books in that category (Law = 5, Old Testament History = 12, Poetry = 5, Major Prophets = 5, Minor Prophets = 12, Gospels = 4, New Testament History = 1, Pauline Epistles = 13, General Epistles = 8, New Testament Prophecy = 1.

Question And Answer Game Using Question Book #2

Rules of play are similar to the Question And Answer Game Using Question Book #1. Except, illustration cards are not used. The first players draws a book card and places it face up on the table. The reader selects a question from that book of the Bible using Question Book #2. (If a question is not available from that particular book, the reader asks a question from one of the adjacent books). If a correct answer is given, the player keeps the card. If the answer is incorrect, the card is placed face down into another stack. When all 66 books cards have been drawn, the reader resuffles the remaining cards and play continues the same as before. The game is over when all the book cards have been collected or time is called (For example, a time limit of 1 hour may be chosen for a game). Scoring is the same as in the game using Question Book #1.
Playing Card Game

This game uses the 66 book cards and can be played by reference to the number on the book card (no prior Bible knowledge is necessary). The dealer shuffles the cards and deals each player seven cards. The remaining cards are place in one deck face down. The object of the game is to score points by building runs of cards. Each play consists of three parts: a draw, laying cards down for points (if possible), and a discard. The player to the dealer's left goes first. The first player draws two cards from the deck. In order to initially lay cards down for points, the player needs to lay down at least four cards in numerical sequence (ie., 1-4 or 38-41, or 65,66,1,2 etc). The initial laying down of four or more cards is called a "meld." Immediately after melding, the player draws from the deck the same number of cards that he melded. The player then discards the same number of cards that he initially drew so that he is left holding seven cards. Discards are placed face up in front of the player and only remain playable for one circuit of play. When a player takes his next turn, he first turns his unused discards over and places them into a discard stack. The next player can either draw two cards from the deck or use any or all of the other player's discards that are face up. The same number of cards drawn (either from the deck or from discards) must be discarded. After a player has melded, on all of his subsequent turns, he can build on his existing runs, lay down any three cards in sequence, or lay down Acts of Revelation by themselves and build runs on them. also, a player does not repalce the cards that he lays down for points after his initial meld. (After melding, a player is getting rid of cards when he lays them down for points). In order to go out, a player must complete a draw, lay at least one card down for points, and discard. When a player has no cards left in his hand, that hand is over and points are totaled.

How to score points. Score one point for each card collected. Add bonus points if you have collected all of the books in a given category (ie. add five bonus points if you have collect all five books of Law, etc). Subtract one point for each card that you continue to hold in your hand when a hand is over. Add five bonus points for goint out.

Play another hand.

The game is over when a player first reaches the predetermined number of points set for a game. The recommended game is 25 points.

Bible Story Game

Use the 28 illustration cards to tell the story of God's plan for man. To tell the story in sequence, the illustration cards should be put in the same order as they appear on the game board. A game can be played with these cards by having a player select a card and then tell that portion of the Bible story represented by the illustration on the card selected. If the player substantially tells that portion of the bible story, he collect that card; otherwise, the card is returned to the bottom of the stack of cards.
