J. Walter Crawford

Around 1986 Jim Barineau met J. Walter Crawford and a friendship developed that was certainly ordained by God. Walt was originally from Canada and came to the USA as a Christian artist. His ability to capture Scripture in an illustration far exceeded any other that Jim had ever met. God certainly anointed Walt with an unusual talent. His ability to illustrate Scripture was accompanied by his very talented commentary on the same.

As Jim was developing the game board for the 7 Games in 1 Box, he needed some illustrations to tell the Bible story. He asked Walt to illustrate with 28 illustrations the story of the Bible from Creation to the New Jerusalem. Walt did so and then went to heaven. The illustrations you see throughout the pages of God Gave His Word.com were Walt's illustrations.

A little about Walt.............

Big men sometimes live in little houses. J. Walter Crawford was such a man. His physical body was small but his heart, soul, mind and spirit were big - very big! Walt had a very special relationship with his Lord and Saviour and was gifted with a supernatural insight into the Holy Scripture. God gave Walt an unusual ability to communicate eternal truth with the artist's brush as well as the writer's pen. His illustrations and commentaries literally leap from the page to communicate the Word of God to the reader.

Walt was promoted to Glory in 1988, but his legacy of insight into the Word of God remains with us. As you consider Walt's drawings and commentary you will be affected. You will laugh and you will cry. You will meditate and you will rejoice. You will worship. You will be aware of the mighty power and presence of our Lord and Saviour. You will come to understand more of the love of God and how He loves you and is intimately interested in you. You will be blessed!

It is an honor to have known J. Walter Crawford. He had many friends. He had one very special friend whom we often discussed. As Walt would describe their relationship, it would almost seem as if that friend was joining in the conversation. Their relationship affected everything that Walt did. As you ponder the illustrations and commentaries on these pages, you will see and feel the impact of that friendship.

Through Walt's drawings and commentary, I would like to introduce you to Walt's friend because He is also my very best friend. These pages are dedicated to Him. His name is Jesus.

Walt's desire was that one day his illustrations and commentaries would be published to the Glory of God. I suspect that Walt knew nothing about the Internet and electronic publishing in 1988 when he went home to heaven. I know for sure that I had no knowledge of the Internet at that time. Now, in God's own timing, Walt's illustrations and commentaries are being published electronically and on the WWW to the Glory of God - just as Walt always wanted.
